Why Kwick Access Created Smart Start Monday

Steph and Stefi 1

At Kwick Access Rentals, safety has never been a tick-box exercise — it’s a responsibility. Working at height comes with real risks, and as a company operating in the access industry, we see first-hand how small oversights can lead to serious consequences. That’s exactly why we created Smart Start Monday.

Where Smart Start Monday Began

Smart Start Monday was developed as a simple but powerful concept:
Start the week with one smart safety reminder.

We know how fast-paced construction and maintenance environments can be. Teams are under pressure, deadlines are tight, and it’s easy for critical safety conversations to get pushed aside. We wanted to create something consistent, memorable, and easy to consume — a weekly moment that brings focus back to safer, smarter work practices when it matters most: at the start of the week.

Rather than long manuals or complicated policies, Smart Start Monday delivers clear, practical guidance that teams can immediately apply on-site — especially when working with MEWPs and other access equipment.

Why We Created It

We created Smart Start Monday for three key reasons:

  1. To Promote Proactive Safety
Safety shouldn’t only be discussed after an incident. By sharing weekly tips and reminders, we aim to help teams identify risks before they become problems.
  2. To Support the Industry
As an access rental provider, we don’t just supply machines — we support projects. Through Smart Start Monday, we share knowledge that benefits contractors, safety officers, supervisors, and operators across the industry.
  3. To Make Safety Memorable
Let’s be honest — traditional safety messaging can sometimes be overlooked. We wanted to communicate important topics in a way that’s engaging, relatable, and easy to remember.

The Inspiration Behind the Character

The heart of Smart Start Monday is our mascot, Stefi the giraffe — a character that represents awareness, perspective, and height safety.

Stefi was inspired by our Managing Director, Stephanie Erasmus. Stephanie’s leadership style is proactive, forward-thinking, and committed to raising industry standards. Just like a giraffe sees further because of its height, Stephanie believes in looking ahead — identifying risks early and encouraging smarter planning before work begins.

That mindset is the foundation of Smart Start Monday and is reflected in its core objectives:

  • To encourage safety through consistent, practical work-at-height reminders.
  • To promote industry participation by creating a shared platform for collaboration and safety dialogue.
  • To support knowledge sharing that strengthens MEWP awareness and raises operational standards across the industry.

The character reflects her approach: calm, confident, practical, and always focused on doing things the right way.

More Than Just a Campaign

Smart Start Monday is not just a marketing initiative — it’s a reflection of who we are as a company.

At Kwick Access Rentals, we believe:

  • Smarter planning reduces risk.
  • Consistency builds safer habits.
  • Education strengthens the entire industry.

By creating Smart Start Monday, we are reinforcing our commitment to safety leadership — not only through the equipment we supply, but through the knowledge we share.

Our Commitment Going Forward

Smart Start Monday will continue to cover key safety topics, practical site reminders, and smarter ways to approach working at height. Our goal is simple:

Start every week safer than the last

Because at Kwick Access Rentals, safety isn’t optional — it’s foundational.
